The Best Western Movies Ever Made

By News

Few figures in history have had as powerful an impact on American masculinity as the cowboy. While the mythologization of the cowboy began all the way back in the late 1800s with dime novels and Wild West shows, it wasn’t until the advent of twentieth century cinema that the cowboy cemented his place as an icon of manliness.

The Art of Manliness is a great resource for many things, but this Western movie roundup is really great. I must say that I got nervous with Liberty Valance being so low on the list. Also, the original True Grit was better.

The State of Georgia launches its first Alexa Skill: Ask GeorgiaGov

Over the last few months we have been working hard with our development partners at Acquia Labs to publish Ask GeorgiaGov, an Alexa skill. Anyone with an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or Alexa on their tablet can now ask several Georgia state service related questions like how to renew your driver’s license or get a fishing permit.

Nikhil was one of my professors while in Graduate School at SCAD. He’s an awesome guy so it’s cool to see him continue to push his team to catch the state’s government up to new technologies.

Gmail and Microsoft Outlook plugin Boomerang comes to iOS today and it’s got a built-in AI voice assistant.

This is awesome news. I love Boomerang for Gmail so having it on my phone will be clutch. I hope they’re working on an Echo app too. “Alexa, Boomerang an email at 2AM so my coworkers think I’m working late tonight.”

By Animation, News No Comments

Holy super-saturation of animated depictions of Batman, Batman! Over the past few decades, we’ve seen many animated versions of the Caped Crusader, such as Beware the Batman , Batman: The Brave and the Bold , and Batman Beyond . I always think it’s super cool to see the development of projects I love, especially from my childhood.

FaceID Icon Looks Familiar

The Face ID Logo

By News No Comments

Hello, old friend.

The Face ID logo is a nice homage to Susan Kare, currently at Pinterest, but it’s also nice to see that Apple hasn’t lost connections to their roots. It can certainly be frustrating to love Apple sometimes (especially some of their more recent design decisions). Although it’s small, this connection makes a new feature feel like home.
